Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening it’s a cosmetic procedure that aims to make your smile whiter and attractive. Basically there two types teeth whitening done at home area or in dental surgery. In both types the bleaching agent i s basically the same, the differences are mainly in the concentration and the method of activating the agent. The both procedures are harmless and you won’t feel any pain.

The only side effect is the appearance of teeth sensitivity to hot and cold foods or drinks which is usually short, and in most cases even missing. The main difference between the two types of whitening is the speed. Bleaching in the dental office is within 1 hour, while at home the maximum effect is reached after 10-12 days. Before starting the whitening procedure the tartar will be cleaned and teeth will be polished. If the front teeth need to be filling, teeth whitening has to be done first, then after 10-14 days when the color is stabilized the teeth can be filled.

Teeth whitening in the dental office:


1. Cleaning of the tartar and polishing the teeth, also establishing the initial color of teeth.
2. Placing a gag to hold the cheeks and lips away.
3. The gums will be coated with a substance that protects them from aggressive bleaching agent.
4. The bleaching agent will be put on the teeth. It can be activated with light, laser or chemical means. The concentration of bleaching agent is higher than that in domestic systems.
5. This step is repeated up to 3 times and the length of each is about 10-15 minutes depending on the concrete system until the desired result is achieved.
6. The patient will be instructed about the appropriate diet and maintenance after the procedure.

Teeth Whitening at home:

1.
Cleaning of the tartar and polishing the teeth, also establishing the initial color of teeth.
2.
Taking impressions of the upper and the lower jaw, which will be send to a laboratory for making of an individual splints.
3. At the next visit the splints will be adapted and it will be demonstrated how to be used and storaged properly.
4.
The splints will be used for 10-12 days most often during the night when the patient is asleep, but they can be worn during the day too. On 3-4 day will be made an interim examination and it detect the obtained result, which could be seen even after the first procedure. The maximal result will be achieved after 10-12 days.
5. After
the end of the period (10-12 days) the final result will be established and the patient will be instructed about the appropriate diet and maintenance after the procedure.
