Scaling
The tartar and the dental plaque develops naturally on the teeth and are responsible for many diseases of the teeth and the gums. The tartar itself is a dental plaque that got hardened with the time. It does consist of bacteria, food debris and cells of the body. When they are in contact with the gums, they’e cause diseases as periodontitis (gum disease) and gingivitis.
Symptoms of these diseases are bleeding gums, swelling and redness, and bad breath. If you have one of these symptoms you should contact your dentist to make a correction of your technics of cleaning or make the professional intervention if it’s needed.
How often you need tartar cleaning? The cleaning is made with an ultrasound machine, the bottom of which touches the teeth and by ultrasonic oscillation removes the scales on it. After that it’s necessary the teeth to be polished, because a rough surface remains that has to be smoothed very quickly in order to prevent forming a new tartar. Frequency of cleaning depends on the tendency of each patient to form tartar. If there is no other problem 2 times in the year is enough. If you want the procedure to have lasting effect it’s good to talk with your dentist about the techniques of brushing and the proper use of dental floss.
