Dentures

Dentures are used to restore missing teeth. They are retained in the mouth from the other teeth or soft tissues around them. If all the teeth are missing the dentures are retained only by the soft tissue or implants.

The advantages of prostheses are that they significantly improve chewing ability, improve the aesthetic appearance and the speech, especially when the front teeth are missing. Last but not least they improve the morale and the quality of life.

The dentures are made in several visits in which its necessary to be taken imprint of the jaws from which to be developed individual spoons that will fit accurately to the prosthetic area and with their help to be taken a second one precise imprint. With the help of wax shaft will define the height of the bite and then the samples will be sent to a laboratory for storing the previously selected samples by shape and color of teeth. On the next visit the patient makes a trial of the arranged teeth and for the first time seeing how they look in his mouth. At this stage the changes on the denture are still possible and it could be made over the teeth arrangement. If everything is in order denture will be sent for completion. Finished prosthesis will be checked whether it stays still in the mouth and if it causes any discomfort. The patient will receive an advice on the maintenance of the denture and a following a checkup after a few days will be arranged. Getting used to the wearing the prosthesis is more difficult than with bridges and crowns.
